Ibiza, Spain
Ibiza, Spain's top party island, June 2005
We flew to Ibiza early Friday morning, and luckily, we were able to check into our hotel a day early. It is a small hotel which was one of the
first original buildings on the port of Ibiza town, built more than 100 years ago. We have a balcony in our room which overlooks the port and
water, and we have enjoyed sitting there watching the yachts come in and out of port. About 100,000 people live on Ibiza year-round, but it gets
much more crowded as a summer vacation spot, known for its beaches and nightlife.
Ibiza is definitely a playground for Europe's wealthy, judging by the yachts going by. People spend time on the beaches,
eating, and going out to clubs. We took the bus to several of the beaches around the island, which is fairly big. Ibiza has a dry, hilly
terrain which was very pretty. And there are billboards everywhere for Club Space, Pacha, and dozens of other nightclubs famous around
the world. The trick here is to adjust your schedule: wake up after noon (the later the better), go to the beach (at famous Bora Bora Jet
bar to hear more music and drink, or at a secluded beach to nap), then go nap back at the hotel early evening, then go out to eat dinner at
11 or 12 pm. The bars open up at 2 am and go strong until 8 am, when you can go to an after-hours party at Space. Good thing we are only
here for a few days!
